Key West

17 Apr

We made our way to Blue Water Key RV Resort, located about 13 miles above Key West.  This is about as good as it gets in the RV world.  There were some very serious coaches here – total custom Prevosts that can cost in excess of $1.5 million!  (and that’s not another fish tale!)  But we made our way in to our site and this is how it looked:

Lots of palm trees and tikee huts (I cracked Yurick’s head open in ours).  Most of these expensive resorts are condo properties where the site is owned by individuals and they rent them to people like us (thank you).  I even saw one for sale for the cool price of $729,000.00 smackers – pretty good for a small lot with a 60’x20′ concrete pad and some landscaping don’t cha think?  And in a recession no less.  I hope the owner is not holding his breath!  And why, exactly, would someone who buys a motorcoach, which of course is meant for travel, purchase a very expensive lot to park it on?  I guess it’s just one of those mysteries of the universe….

We really enjoyed Key West and the interesting sights and personalities there.  It should be on every American’s bucket list as it’s the farthest point south in the US and everyone needs to get as low as they can go at some point.  And yes, there are Gators in Florida.
